QR Code Customization

Learn how to customize QR code appearance in Kuviq.

Customization Options

Kuviq QR codes can be customized for:

  • Branding - Match your organization's look
  • Visibility - Optimize for your environment
  • Functionality - Balance size and scannability

Size Options

Available Sizes

SizeDimensionsUse Case
Small12mm × 12mmSmall equipment, tools
Medium25mm × 25mmStandard equipment (recommended)
Large50mm × 50mmLarge equipment, outdoor

Choosing the Right Size

Consider:

  • Equipment size - Label should be proportional
  • Scanning distance - Larger for further scanning
  • Available space - Must fit on the item
  • Environment - Larger for outdoor/industrial

Color Customization

Foreground Color

The QR code pattern color:

  • Default: Black
  • Custom: Any dark color
  • Must contrast with background

Background Color

The QR code background:

  • Default: White
  • Custom: Any light color
  • Must contrast with foreground

Color Guidelines

Maintain Contrast

QR codes require high contrast to scan reliably. Always use dark foreground on light background.

Good combinations:

  • Black on white (best)
  • Dark blue on white
  • Black on light yellow

Avoid:

  • Light on light
  • Dark on dark
  • Similar shades

Logo Integration

Include your organization's logo in QR codes:

  1. Go to Organization Settings
  2. Upload your logo
  3. Enable Include Logo on QR Codes

Logo Guidelines

GuidelineRecommendation
FormatPNG or SVG
SizeSquare aspect ratio
BackgroundTransparent or white
ComplexitySimple logos scan better

Logo Placement

The logo appears:

  • Center of the QR code
  • Maximum 30% of code area
  • Surrounded by QR pattern
Error Correction

QR codes include error correction, allowing logos without losing scannability. However, very large logos may reduce reliability.

Error Correction Levels

What is Error Correction?

Error correction allows damaged or partially obscured codes to still scan.

Available Levels

LevelRedundancyUse Case
L (Low)~7%Clean environments
M (Medium)~15%General use
Q (Quartile)~25%Some wear expected
H (High)~30%Harsh environments, logos

Choosing a Level

  • L - Small labels, indoor, no logo
  • M - Standard use (default)
  • Q - Industrial environments
  • H - Outdoor, logo included

Higher levels = larger QR patterns = bigger label needed

Best Practices

For Maximum Scannability

  1. High contrast - Dark on light
  2. Appropriate size - Match use case
  3. Error correction - Higher for harsh conditions
  4. Clean printing - Quality settings on high

For Professional Appearance

  1. Consistent branding - Use org colors thoughtfully
  2. Logo integration - Subtle, not overwhelming
  3. Clean design - Don't overcrowd
  4. Quality materials - Good label stock

For Durability

  1. Higher error correction - Tolerates damage
  2. Larger size - Still readable if worn
  3. Durable materials - Appropriate for environment
  4. Protective coating - Laminate if needed

Testing Your Codes

Before Mass Production

  1. Print one test label
  2. Apply to sample surface
  3. Scan with multiple devices
  4. Test in actual conditions
  5. Adjust if needed

What to Verify

  • Scans from expected distance
  • Scans under typical lighting
  • Scans with your preferred app/method
  • Information displays correctly

Resetting to Defaults

To reset customizations:

  2. Click Reset to Defaults
  3. Confirm

Or manually set each option back to default values.

Troubleshooting

Code Won't Scan After Customization

  • Check contrast ratio
