Manufacturers

Manage equipment manufacturers in Kuviq.

Overview

Manufacturers help you track the source of your equipment:

  • Identify equipment brands and origins
  • Track warranty and service information
  • Organize equipment by manufacturer
  • Contact support when needed
  • Link to item types for filtering

Accessing Manufacturers

  1. Navigate to Admin > Manufacturers
  2. View all configured manufacturers

Manufacturers List

The Manufacturer List

The list shows:

Adding a Manufacturer

Manufacturer Creation

Basic Setup

  1. Click Add Manufacturer
  2. Enter the manufacturer name
  3. Save

Full Details

Add comprehensive information:

Using Manufacturers

Assigning to Items

When creating or editing items:

  1. Select the manufacturer from the dropdown
  2. The manufacturer is recorded with the item
  3. Use this for filtering and reporting

Linking to Item Types

Associate manufacturers with item types:

  1. Go to Admin > Item Types
  2. Edit an item type
  3. Under Manufacturers, select applicable manufacturers
  4. Save

When creating items of that type, only linked manufacturers appear.

Filtering by Manufacturer

In the items list:

  1. Click Filter
  2. Select one or more manufacturers
  3. View only equipment from those manufacturers

Manufacturer Information Uses

Warranty Tracking

Store warranty information:

  • Warranty period
  • Warranty start/end dates
  • Claim procedures
  • Contact for claims

Service Coordination

Track service contacts:

  • Authorized service providers
  • Parts ordering information
  • Technical support contacts
  • Documentation resources

Procurement

Useful for procurement:

  • Vendor account numbers
  • Pricing agreements
  • Order contacts
  • Lead times

Editing Manufacturers

Updating Information

  1. Click on a manufacturer
  2. Update the information
  3. Save changes

Changes apply immediately—existing items retain the link.

Merging Manufacturers

If you have duplicates:

  1. Update items from one manufacturer to the other
  2. Delete the duplicate
  3. Or, simply update the name if it was misspelled

Deleting Manufacturers

Prerequisites

Before deleting:

  1. Reassign items to another manufacturer, OR
  2. Remove manufacturer assignment from items

Deleting

  1. Click on the manufacturer
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm
Cannot Delete

Manufacturers assigned to items cannot be deleted. Reassign or remove assignments first.

Reports by Manufacturer

Generate reports to see:

Creating a Manufacturer Report

  1. Go to Reports
  2. Select or create a report
  3. Filter by manufacturer
  4. Generate

Import/Export

Importing Manufacturers

  1. Click Import
  2. Upload a CSV file with manufacturer data
  3. Map columns:
    • Name (required)
    • Website
    • Phone
    • Email
    • Notes
  4. Review and import

  1. Click Export
  2. Choose format (CSV or Excel)
  3. Download

Always include:

  • Full company name
  • Website

  1. Avoid duplicates - Search before adding new
  2. Use consistent names - Match official company names
  3. Keep notes current - Update warranty and contact info
  4. Link to item types - For filtered dropdowns

Troubleshooting

Can't Find Manufacturer

  • Check for spelling variations
  • Search by partial name
  • May need to add as new

Can't Delete Manufacturer

  • Items still assigned
  • Check items list filtered by manufacturer
  • Reassign or remove from items first

Duplicate Manufacturers

  • Decide which to keep
  • Update items to use correct one
  • Delete the duplicate
